Hobbies and free time
What do you like to do when you're not working or studying? We share hobbies, sports and things to do in Sarnia.
It’s free. Confirming helps us organize the groups.
Every week, newcomers and Sarnia locals get together to talk in English and Spanish. You teach your language and learn another. Free, and every level is welcome.
Free, for every level. You say you’re coming in our Facebook group.

We’ll announce the next meeting soon. Join our Facebook group to hear first!
Each turn, the whole group switches language to help one person.

It’s free: join our Facebook group and let us know you’re coming, so we can prepare materials and organize the groups.
Sometimes we’re one big group, sometimes we split into smaller ones, depending on how many of us there are.
When it’s your turn to practise, the whole group speaks your second language and the conversation centres on you.
During other people’s turns, you support them in your native language. Everyone practises, everyone teaches.
Sarnia welcomes people from all over the world. We believe learning a language goes both ways: newcomers learn English, and locals discover Spanish and other cultures. We all teach, we all learn.
Build confidence in English in a relaxed setting — no tests, no pressure — and meet people in your new city.
Always wanted to learn Spanish? Practise with native speakers, discover new cultures and help others feel at home.
Share your culture, food, music and stories. Diversity is what makes every conversation interesting.
More than 60 meetups since February 2024: coffee chats, summer picnics and now Monday nights at the Francophone Centre.
Our storyNothing. Meetings are free and open to everyone.
Just one: sign up or let us know you’re coming, so we can prepare materials and organize the groups. No minimum level or particular immigration status needed.
Join our Facebook group: we post every meeting there and you can confirm your attendance. The “Confirm on Facebook” button takes you straight to the group. If you can’t make it after all, let us know so we can rearrange the groups.
Any level. Some people are saying their very first sentence, others are bilingual. We organize things so everyone can take part.
English and Spanish. Spanish speakers practise English, and English speakers practise Spanish. If your native language is something else, you’re still welcome to practise with us and share your culture.
Want to support us? This project is possible thanks to people, businesses and organizations who believe in a more connected community.
